Picking up a camera was the best decision of my life.
I was born and raised here in Brisbane, Queensland. Growing up I always felt this pull towards the arts. One of my earliest memories is the car rides to school, sitting in the back of my mum’s car as she played blues music over the car radio. I would look out the window and daydream of how the images I was seeing would fit into a film clip. This grew into a passion for photography – throughout my childhood I would always just see moments in time that I thought would make for a great photograph.
My high school days were spent surfing, skateboarding, and going to parties to chase girls. I left school in year 11 to work for my dad in construction. Eventually I decided to follow my passion. When I told my parents I was going to Tafe to finish high school, so I could go to university for photography, they looked at me like I was crazy. But I was determined and made it into university, picked up a camera, started shooting, and never looked back.
